Love and Grapes

Had a great day in the gallery today. I hope

your Valentine's Day went well too! I sold

two works of art today...this watercolor of the

grapes from Greece, and another colored

pencil drawing of a hummingbird. They are

going to be gifts to be given later today.

I also drew some names from the list of

comments, and I have some Valentine GiveAway

winners: Cyndi, Patty, Tina and Vickie. I will

try to get in touch with you, and you can let

me know how you want to get your goodie.

Window to the World

Nice window photo from Naphlio, Greece. I

knew it would be one that I would like to paint.

There's one of the early progress, and then the

finished watercolor. It is on a full sheet of paper,

22 x 30, but I will crop it some (as shown). Will

be for sale...anyone interested, let me know.

My printer let me know the large giclee' prints

of six of my photographs are ready, and I will

be picking them up this week. Can't wait to see

them. They are 30 x 40 and printed on canvas.

If you are interested in having a photo printed

on canvas, I can give you his contact info. He

does a great job.

Santorini One

I am working on some of the art for the

Greece show coming up. This is one of

the famous blue and white churches on the

island of Santorini. I had seen photos of

these churches, and always hoped I could

take one myself. We were not on the island

long, and I was running around like a maniac

trying to get the shots I wanted. Luckily

there were several churches very close together. I

think this one is stunning in its' simplicity,

and a good subject for a Sunday.

The little bottle of masking fluid is a very

helpful tool when painting in watercolor.

Because there is no white paint, and the

paint itself is transparent, any white you see

in most watercolors is unpainted paper. The

masking fluid helps to save the white paper.

It can be painted on, and it seals the surface,

so you can paint freely around a certain shape

or area. When dry, you just peel it off, like

rubber cement. I will be using it on this piece

to save all of this painted section so I can paint

the ocean freely around it. We'll see if I can

pull it off!

Greece Sketchbook Finalized!

I did finish the Greece sketchbook today...whew.
If I wasn't such a perfectionist, it might have been
done sooner!~ I did do some extensive proof-reading
today, and did find several mistakes. I would have
been really embarrassed to have a misspelled word in
there...I am such a snob about that. Anyway, I still
just ordered one copy, and will have to check it all out
before I place the large order. I learned that with my
last one: when I got them all in, one of the pages was
out of focus, and I had to fix them all...nightmare.
Anyway, they say experience is the best teacher, and
indeed it is!

If you are interested in ordering one of the books,
please let me know in the next couple of days. They are
running a special on free shipping! and it would be
great to get that on the whole order. Just email me
or call the gallery if you would like one. Mine should
be in soon, and you can look at it first if you like. It will
have the leather cover, all of my watercolors from the
trip, and some of my photography. They are $100.00
each.

here at the Pea Patch all day...I had

two customers all day! It's hard to

sell anything to invisible people! oh

well, I got some of this done, the day

is not lost. I have at least reached the

island pages...the end is not far now.

A License to Paint

I have several projects going on right now,

and that is unusual for me. I am a very

sequential person; I usually start and complete

a project before I move to the next one. But

the things I am working on now are long-term

things that I can't quite finish in one sitting.

So I try to make a little progress each day

on something...and skip around to suit my

mood. (ooh, that sounds so much like an artist...)

Anyway, here are two art licensing pages for

the portfolio I am sending off to some licensing

companies soon. This is one of the many things

I am juggling around. The others are:

Blog Giveaway-Greece Window

During the Greece trip, I promised to do a

painting and give it away. Well, here it is.

I had posted several window photographs,

and told you to tell me your favorite...and

then that would be the one I would paint.

Several of you emailed me and told me this

was your favorite (it was my favorite, too!)

And I knew it would make a nice painting.

It is 7x10, and I will double mat it.

So, I will draw a name from among the followers

of the blog, and the lucky winner will get the

painting. And I will ship it to you.
