Contrast

This is a pastel drawing that I did awhile back, and
I sold it this week to a collector.  I did this during
a garden tour, where I was painting on location.

These are some geraniums on my patio, and I thought
I would do a little
painting on location at home!



This is my finished pastel drawing that I did while
enjoying the beautiful
weather outside today.

Generally, I work from light to dark...and as
it starts to take shape, it is made up of only the
light values...the paler colors.  It never really looks
complete, until the darks are added.  It is the contrast that
adds the final touches.  It is not a complete design
without the darker parts.

As I thought back over this incredible week, the loss,
the sorrow, and the heartache from so many
tragedies (here and across our nation), I could not
help but take notice also of the heroism, the outpouring
of compassion, and the unity of spirit among so many
as well.  It was like the light and the dark existing
side by side...like in great artwork.  So it is, that life is
not truly experienced except when we face both good and 
bad, highs and lows, true joy and great sorrow.  And it is
our God who never forsakes us or fails us...no matter what the
situation.  I pray that you have been able to find His peace
in some small way this week.

Art for Sale

I am very proud of some of my recent artwork, now for sale in the
gallery.  We are getting ready for the downtown Open House coming
in November, but everything is for sale now also!  The tiger prints
would be great for any tiger fan in your family.  And the inspirational
photos make good gifts as well...or they can brighten a corner in
your own nook and cranny.  I also have the notecards of some of
the photos: the Grace one with the white flowers; the strength one
with the trees; the blue flower one (be not afraid) and the song
sparrow photo.  We have 5 notes packaged up with the envelopes, and
they make great stocking stuffers. 

I was pleased to have the new Huey P. Long Vo-Tech College here in Winnfield
use some of my Louisiana swamp photos to decorate their banquet hall for
their recent function.  And the word is they may want to own them
permanently!  woohoo...hope so

Downtown Christmas Open House  November 8th
5-9 pm  Winnfield, LA  71483

There will be a drawing for a sleigh full of goodies from
each shop participating.  It will be on display at
Bank of Winnfield sometime next week.  You may register
the night of the open house.  We will draw a winner that
night at the conclusion of the evening...good luck!  The more
shops you visit, the more you can register.

I have been wanting to use this very popuIar scripture on a photo.  I have
considered many of the photos that I have, and I have finaIIy decided on
this one.  I wish I couId say this is some exotic Iocation...but this is
in my yard!  It was a foggy morning Iast FaII...and I took a Iot of
pics.  I think this one has the right atmosphere for the verse.
