Dog Inspired

I got up early this morning, and decided to give this dog
another try with colored pencil.  I am happier with this
one, and I will ship it today.  It is a small drawing, about
8 x 11, and I will mat it to a custom frame size.

Pet Portrait Final

This is "Drake", a pet portrait gift for the
dog's owner from his mom.  This is the
last stage before I did the background.

Here is the finished painting.  I did
some dark blue and brown washes
around the outline of the dog.  And then
I used some white acylic paint to add
some whiskers.  Happy dog!

"Drake"

The early stages...first washes of watercolor

Slowly adding some of the shadows and details
All the darks will be added last

I am working on a dog portrait tonight for a client
in Minden (the one whose house I painted during
the Minden Garden Tour).  I have the
basic washes done, and I will continue to add
details and shadows as I go.  The background will
be last.

I can paint your pet as well.  All I need is a photograph
(which can be emailed or snail-mailed)..  I do
various sizes and price ranges.  Just get in touch

one for you.
