Merchandising

 We have been working on getting all the
merchandise set up for the Open House.  This is our
"pink" section, with lots of cupcake items, tea cups, etc.
That's a cute little antique pink table, too.

And here are my burlap ornaments of the little tree
near the old red wagon.  Those are vintage Santas, too.
The wagon would be really cute on someone's porch,
fixed up with Christmas evergreens and ribbon.  Come by

Market Neighbors

One of the great benefits of doing a trade show,
is getting to meet other artists and see their
interesting work.  These are beautiful old watches
made into one-of-kind jewelry pieces.

The name of the company is Rewind Jewelry, and

And this adorable red head is next door to me, and this
is her first time at market.  Her booth is really cute,
and her jewelry creations are re-cycled and re-purposed
odds and ends, that are very unique.

Here is the section with individual charms, displayed on playing
cards...what a novel idea!  I bought a little bird charm to attach to my
dealer badge...fun.

Market Prep

Getting things together for market...this is a banner that
will advertise me!  as an artist who can make appearances
in their stores.  I am adding this aspect this time to my marketing
efforts.  I hope to be able to schedule some appearances in other
stores, demonstrating watercolor painting, bringing samples of my
work, etc.

And this is the new "Texas" bag...the design features the
Alamo, the Texas flag,and cowboy boot, a bluebonnet, and an armadillo. 
Having grown up in Texas, I am
more than familiar with all these things! 
As children, our parents always took us at Easter time to have pictures made
sitting in the bluebonnet fields.  I chased lots of armadillos with my brother in
the hill country around San Antonio.  I owned several pair of cowboy boots...in
fact, I was on the dance line in high school, and we dressed like the Kilgore Rangerettes,
in red, white, and blue with white cowboy boots!
AND, my first job after high school involved working downtown at the
Alamo!  I guess I am still "Texas" at heart...but my Louisiana roots are strong
now too.  I guess I can love them both!

On the Hook

Still putting together some of these odds and ends to
take to the market in Dallas.  This is made from two porch
bannisters, some beaded board, some chicken wire,
fabric and a hook!  Would make a great memo board in the
kitchen or hallway...to pin up all those reminders for soccer
practice, dance lessons, ballet class, etc

This one is made from an old cabinet door.  I removed the glass,
and stapled the chicken wire to the back.  I covered that with the
fabric, and added a backing.  I sealed all the wood, and put
the hooks on the bottom.  This would be great in a kitchen,
office, or hallway, to post all the important reminders that we
all keep forgetting!

Bug Off

I have been playing around with these "bugs"...made from bits and
pieces.  This is a chair leg, with some decorative brackets,
a spool off of an old typewriter, and some nails.

This "dragonfly" is made from a porch post, some beaded
 board, a key plate,
a drawer pull, and some wire antennas.
 

This one is also made from the porch post, a hinge,
some beaded board, and an upside down fleur de lis hook.

These have been fun to do.  They will be for sale
at the shop, and I will plan to take them to
Dallas market in June as well.

Wood Glue, Screws, and a Jigsaw

Had a great day making stuff!  I worked at the gallery,
but it was very slow, so I had a chance to work in the studio.
I put together a couple of things to take to Dallas

This is an old pair of oars that I bought years ago in Georgia.  I knew I
wanted to make something out of them, and this seemed a good idea.  I
had some help on this one...Nelson cut the beaded board and assembled it,
adding the hooks at the end.

Nelson also helped do this one.  That is an old pair of snow skis that I also
have had for years.  The 3 pieces of wood came from a dismantled dresser,
and again, we added some hooks.  Either one of these would make FANTASTIC coat hangers in a hallway.

Now, this one combines some old and new items....the old  wood
with the chippy paint has been in my shop for at least 10 years.
I had an old door knob attached to it, and tried to sell it, and no one
ever even looked at it.  So, I took the door knob off, and added this
fleur de lis hook, and then hung it from a piece of banister that I just
bought in San Antonio last week.  Just keep hanging onto stuff....you
never know what you might use it with!

I also bought this piece last week. Just added the hook and
burlap ribbon hanger...simple

My Suburban is already full of art stuff headed for Dallas, but
I hope I can squeeze in a few more of these.  I will be able to put some
things in the Uhaul trailer, and none of these are breakable.  They will
probably make it there somehow!  If there is something
that you want however, let me know, and I can leave it in
Louisiana for you...I am always ready to sell!
