This Bud's for You

Managed to get out in the yard last weekend...still no sunshine,
but a few flowers peeking out.  These yellow jonquils are always the
first to bloom. This would make a great watercolor.

And this is my Bradford pear tree...always beautiful in the
Spring.  It is just budding out, and the bees are already hard
at work.

I started drawing this one....may take me awhile!  Just getting
started...working on color combinations.  There will be many
more layers, details, and some blending with the solvent.

Direct Your Path

I had a request this week for a scripture photo.  They

would like the verse from Proverbs 3:5-6.  "Trust in the

Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will

direct your path". 

It is to be a gift for her husband this Christmas, and she

said he liked mountains, woods, water.  I have about

a million more photos ! to choose from.  She is

looking at these, and will let me know something soon.

I finished up these two canvas prints.  I have used the photos that I took of
the thistle and the nautillus shell.  I added the text on them and made
them black and white.  I would like to do a couple more along this line...
I am still looking for circular objects (beside flowers). 

I am almost finished with the digital copy of the Peru sketchbook as well.
I need to add a few more pages and do some tweaking.  I will post
when it is available...if you went on the trip/ you may want one. 
If you just love Peru and would like to have a book of photos and
paintings...then it's for you too!

Encounter with A Thistle

It begins with an observation...I noticed this dainty
thistle blooming...This is the first photograph...
very plain...very boring



So I touched the thistle and some of the petals flew away...now it is more interesting...
but could be more dramatic

So I crop and take away the color...now it is getting very interesting

This one has some distortion...some "noise" as they call it.  I would like to add some
text but I have to think about it some more. 

Just a few insights as to how the mind of an artist works! 
Hopefully I can turn this random encounter with a thistle into
something worthwhile.

I have been working on several

things, but have had some computer

connectivity issues! So, I will do a

couple of posts in a row...hopefully!

These scripture photos are for a

friend, Liz. She wanted this verse,

but with a blue color scheme. And

since my brother had surgery today,

this has been my own personal prayer,

all day today. He is fine, and will have to

be in the hospital a few more days. God

does care for His own. Let not all our

hearts be troubled!~

A good friend sent me this quote this week...isn't it amazing?

She was trying to cheer me up after some disappointing

competitions. And she succeeded. I forget sometimes to view

things from God's perspective. But once I am reminded,

things seem to all fall in place once again, and there

is peace, and there is joy, and there is contentment.

She also shared:

"You can't appreciate the light unless you spend time

in the shade. Tomorrow brings new fruit....spit out the

grapes!"
