Streams of Life

Thought you might enjoy some of these

beautiful streams, lakes and creeks. I

hope to paint some like these while I am

here. The water is crystal clear, and

freezing cold!

A Day in Class

This is the Headwaters Arts and Conference

Center which serves as the headquarters for

the workshop.

I attended the opening session of the watercolor

workshop with Stephen Quiller all day today. He

teaches using a particular set of pigments and a

special arrangement on the palette. He then stresses

color mixing according to opposite pairs of colors.

So, our lessons today involved painting with only

two colors and the corresponding greys that can be

made with them. It was very challenging, and I

rose to the challenge! That is my palette, my abstract

designs, and a finished wc using two colors...

During the afternoon, Mr Mort Solberg did

a demonstration as well. Here he is in the

beginning stages of a floral watercolor that

he finished later in the pm.

This is Mr. Quiller and a demo painting he did

during our class. I love the way he simplifies the

shapes in a landscape in an abstract way. I am going

to try to loosen up and simplify mine as well.

Tomorrow we are going to paint outside, weather

permitting! It snowed today?!

I did this opening page in the airport...

I hope to see one of these guys!

Another page that I did near this little

I am off to class with Quiller..should be

a great day!

Flora and Fauna

I have spent my first day in Dubois.

During my early morning workout

walk, I came across these beautiful

blooms along the main street. And then

late this afternoon, these pronghorn

and mule deer were right outside of town.

I did some painting this morning out in the

Shoshone National Forest. Then we did

registration all afternoon, and then a welcome

reception tonight. I am looking forward to

a day of painting and instruction tomorrow...

off to bed!

High Cotton to High Clouds

This was the view on the way to the

airport in Louisiana early this morning...

Ready for harvesting....

Landing at the Jackson Hole airport late this

afternoon. We had to go around this thunderstorm,

and approach the runway from the other end!

Driving to Dubois, in the rain, alongside the

Grand Tetons....nice ending to a long day.

The workshop starts tomorrow afternoon. I should

be able to get some photos and do some sketching on

my own in the morning. Hopefully the sun will be

shining!

In Remembrance

"O God, hasten to deliver me

O Lord, hasten to my aid!

Let those be ashamed and humiliated

Who seek my life;

"Let those be turned back and dishonored

Who delight in my affliction.

Let those be turned back because of their

shame...

Let all who seek Thee rejoice and

Be glad in Thee; and let those who love

Thy salvation say continually,

"Let God be magnified."

"But I am afllicted and needy;

Hasten to me, O God!

Thou art my help and my deliverer,

O Lord, do not delay."

Psalm 70

I have waited all day to post something.

And now that I have watched hours of

interviews, film footage, speeches,

and memorial programs, I am

convinced that the words from this

psalm are all I can say.

May God continue to bless us all

Gallery Graphics

I am finalizing a lot of loose ends for the

upcoming show. This is the new home page

for the gallery website. It is up now. And

I have ordered a postcard with the egret

watercolor image to mail out as invitations

and announcements for the show. I use

Modern Postcard company in California,

and have for years. They print a great

product, are easy to work with (everything

can be done online now), and are really

fast. ( I sound like a commercial!) Anyway,

those will be in soon, and I will begin sending

them out. I can check these two jobs off the

list! Now if I could just get through packing

for Wyoming!

The Color of Shirts

This is just one of the t-shirt color
swatch brochures that I have. This is
what I use to select the t-shirt color
for the Christmas shirt. I am using
"natural"..just a cream color this
year. The red, green, black, yellow
and white ink will show up well on
it, and it is easier to wash, etc than
white! When I get the proof from the
printer, I will try and post it.

New Window

I am working on another window collage.

The window was missing the top two panes

of glass. So I did some collages on two

small canvases, and then mounted them

in the open spaces. I am going to do something

on the bottom two panes, but I am still

mulling it over. Maybe an idea will come

to me today! (if you haven't figured it out,

I make this stuff up as I go :)

A Photo Essay of Dubois, Wyoming

This one is much more "artsy"! Some beautiful scenery. Can't wait
to paint some of it!! And this Neil Diamond song is one of

my favorites. enjoy!

Driving to DuBois, Wyoming for the SKB Workshop

I found this video tonight by an artist who has been
an instructor at the SKB workshop that I will be
attending in a few days! It is rather amusing, but I
thought it would be neat for you to see where I will be.
We are staying in Dubois, and will be painting in the
surrounding area, hopefully in Yellowstone and the
Tetons. I will try to post while there...fun fun.

Gator Christmas

Here's my final t-shirt designs for this

year. I have to send the black line and

the color mock up to the printer. Haven't

made the final decision on the shirt color.

I am leaning toward natural, light green,

or light tan. I am going to try to see the

design on each background color (the printer

will send that to me), and then I will

decide. I haven't done a cream shirt in

awhile, and people like them better than

white. I would love black, but the ink

never shows up really well on black.

I should be able to decide soon.

Fields of Color

Late this afternoon, all three cats (this is

Huey) took a walk in the woods near

the house.

suprisingly, there is already some

fall color in the leaves

but there were also a lot of

blooming things I don't know the

name of any of these plants?! I grew

up in South Texas, and I know a lot

about cactus!

another unknown berry...I am sure

some of you can tell me what it is

called...please do

and look at the beautiful color on these~

I did not enhance it at all; it was that

pink! tell me what these are too!

these were the same thing, only not

as ripe, I guess

and this thing was on a bush that

had long blooms on it too. this was

the "fruit" growing where the

blooms had been...cool. you can

name this one for me as well....

Feel free to comment and tell me

what some of these things are~

Louisiana Show Coming Together

I worked Saturday setting up

this section for the upcoming Christmas

Open House (which will be here before

we know it!) The Christmas tree will

go where the fake ficus is now. It will

be decorated in whites and greens,

magnolias and pine cones. I hung the

curtains in the windows, priced some of

the gift items, and grouped the bird items,

etc.

There will be lots more gift items here

by Christmas...many are on the way.

Signs of the Times: I have been painting

these little wooden signs. I will have a lot

more. There will be some Saints and

Winnfield Tiger ones, too. I have also gotten

in a lot of tiger and fleur de lis jewelry.

(the Winnfield Tigers and the LSU

Tigers both won this weekend!)

Here is the large watercolor that I

finished awhile back. It is framed now,

and will be joined by several other

egret and bird paintings and art.

There will be one whole section with

lots of New Orleans stuff. This is the

window that I said I had finished off with

some collage elements on the glass

and the wooden window frame. It will

join lots of other New Orleans and South

Louisiana themed things.

We have plans to add a Cajun cabin porch

in part of the gallery, and there will be some

cypress knees and some Spanish moss. It

will all come together...it is just a lot of

work between now and then!

What a Creative Mess

I have been working on these pair of

collages, and I am just about ready to

start gluing them down. I looked

around at my mess, and what it all

takes to get the art done, and I

realized no one ever sees all of that!

So, there's the "creative mess!" I

do try to clean up as I go...

Pair of Pelican collages

9 x 18 $125.00 each

Red Pelican

I am working on some companion pieces
to the large red swamp collage I finished
the other day. I am going to use this
pelican image on a pair of 9 x 18 canvas
panels.

It is raining outside...hallelujah!

Windows to the World

This is the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson

Square in New Orleans...from behind the

window frame. I am still working on this;

I am collaging some other images onto the

glass and adding a few touches.

This is the finished window for my

customer. It is supposed to go in a

kitchen, so I added the hot sauce

bottles. If she doesn't like it, I am

sure someone will. And it will be in

the Louisiana show in November!

And I will just make her another

one.

Pat's and Porch

Several month ago, I did a large collage

using a 3-paned window frame and a

canvas. I printed three long New Orleans

photos and used them in the pane openings.

Anyway, I sold that piece, but a customer

had seen it, and wants one like it. I just

now found another 3 paned window frame.

I am working on this project now. These

are two of the photos I am going to use.

She wants lots of red and green. I thought

these fit the bill. I just took these a couple

of weeks ago when I was down in New

Orleans. And the computer did the rest.

Will try to post tomorrow when it is finished.
