Blooming Work

Finished these three little mixed media pieces, from
photo references taken in Hawaii.  We visited the Hawaii
Tropical Botanical Garden...if you are ever on the Big Island,
be sure and visit.  It was stunning.  The flowers, surroundings,
waterfall, the ocean, were all amazing.

I used some watercolor backgrounds for these.  The flowers are
painted mostly in acrylic paint.  I added details and shading
with some colored pencils.  The white flowered one is 5 x 7, and the
other two are 8 x 10.  They are matted and ready to go!
If anyone is interested, I can ship anywhere.
5 x 7  $25      8 x 10  $35

Birds and Blooms

Still working on a few of these small canvases.  These
are 4 inches square and an inch deep.  I added the texture on
them first, and painted a background color.  Then I layered a couple
of colors over the background color, blending  it in some places.
I painted the egrets and the sunflowers then in acrylic, and I will
spray them with a sealer.
They are for sale; this size is $25.  The larger ones are $35, and $50
each.  I painted them in pairs, and you can buy them separately or
together. I can also ship if you would be interested.
These make great gifts, and I will do some more before Christmas. If
there is something in particular you would like,
just let me know.

Poppies and Owls

Who likes painting owls in art class!?  They dooooo.  We finished up our art
classes for the year today.  They completed these owl designs, and then
we enjoyed some ice cream outside on the patio!

On my way home from Texas this past weekend, I went by this wonderful
place.  It is the Wildseed Farm, outside of Fredericksburg, Texas.  I knew the
poppies would be in bloom, and I wanted to get some pictures.

And so I started this poppy drawing tonight from one of the photos.
I have always loved poppies...they are such classic flowers, and have
such beautiful form.  I will post some of the progress on this as I go along.

Dancing Ladies

When I was out and about today, I took some pics of some
azaleas...wild and domestic.  The wild ones grow along a creek
near our house.  I always look forward to seeing them in the spring.
They look like "dancing ladies" or "ballerinas".

The hot pink azalea at the bottom is a typical one found here
in the South.  The late freeze this year really put a damper
on some of the blooms, but these managed to show out!
