Party Time at the Pea Patch

Bridal Shower in the Cafe today

Cute cake...a real work of art!

Another cute cake...precious!

The birthday party out on the deck

Before they all arrived

The crowd in the cafe...lots of gifts and good times

We had a real party day at the shop today...a two-fer!
There was a bridal shower for Crystal Vines in the cafe.
She had a great turnout, and everyone had a great time.

We also had a 7 year old birthday party out on the
deck right after the shower.  It was decorated with lots
of pink, and the little girls had a great time, too.

The Cafe and the Deck are both available for parties,
showers, banquets, meetings.  Just let us know what
your needs are, and we will do our best to make your
wishes come true!

Colored Pencil Duo

I am still a signature member of  CPSA, the Colored
Pencil Society of America.  They sponsor an
international exhibition every year, and these are my
two entries.  The convention is held in the summer.
If one of these makes it into the exhibition, I may
make some plans to attend the convention.

You can check out their website, and see some of
the great colored pencil artwork by some of the
members.

Cups of Flowers

The array of colorful cups available

Wrap around cup floral design

This design coordinates with the watercolor posted
yesterday, and is a wrap design for a cup.
There are so many products now that art can decorate.
I am excited about some of the possibilities.
Hope to get some product back soon!

Spring Colors

I am trying to get this watercolor printed on some
cards and canvas..possibly a journal.  I like the bright
colors...these flowers look happy to me!  I am going to
do some companion pieces with this.  Back to the
drawing board!

On the ClipBoard

I have finished working on several of the
collections for possible products: the poppies,
the seashells, the teacups, Joy to the World,
and the cupcakes.  So, I have been playing
around with a couple of new ideas.  I want to
do some kind of bird design, and a rooster
design as well.  These are just the initial sketches
for some possible directions.

It was a beautiful day here in Louisiana today...
perfect spring weather.  I have been enjoying
working in the yard, and admiring God's re-creation
of nature.  I hope you were able to worship in
your corner of the world today...alleluia!

No Egrets any Longer

Pair of Egrets

I did these two little acrylic canvases for the Louisiana
art show that we held at the gallery over Christmas.  Then, these
two went to Shreveport to the Barnwell Art Center, and were
there for a month.  I picked them up, and they have been
propped up in a corner of the gallery for the last couple of weeks.
Someone came in last Saturday, a woman from south Louisiana,
and wanted to buy just one of the pair.  I tried to convince her to
buy both, but she only wanted one.  I thought I would never
sell the one by itself.  But today, the same woman came back,
and bought the other one!  You just never know...

Ribbon Art

Cute bunny bows

Little spring bird clip
turtles!

Creative ribbon clips

These adorable clips and bows are in the"My Dixie
Darlins" booth in my shop.  They are so creative.
Someone is cutting and shaping  this regular grosgrain
ribbon into the cutest little "sculptures"...animals,
fruits and veggies, and all kinds of seasonal cuties.
She told me they are made in America, which is a plus!
The little felt bows and clips are new...and just in time
for Easter.  Come by and check them out.
If are interested in any of the clips, email me.  We can
ship them anywhere.

Sketchbook Delay

watercolor page of a sunset in Bryce

Sunrise page! painted from inside a warm car

If anyone knows what kind of bird this is...I would love
to know.  He made short, sharp calls, and bobbed a lot!
He was black, and flitted from rock to rock in the river.

An ink wash spread in the book of the Great White Throne
in Zion

The opening page in the Zion/Bryce sketchbook

I just now finished up my little sketchbook from my
recent trip to Zion and Bryce Canyon in Utah.  I
was waiting to get some of my photos back, and I
was also working on some more pressing art.  I put it
on the back burner for awhile, but decided to finish it
up last night.  I used a Moleskin watercolor sketchbook..
in the landscape format.  I really enjoyed using it.  The
paper is a good watercolor weight, and I like the
elastic band that holds it closed.  I ordered a similar
one to take with me to Peru next month.

journals of all kinds.

Spread a Little Joy

Working on some Christmas designs for notepads,
journals, and cups.  I have several more in this series..
won't bore you with all of them.  I used this on my
Christmas shirt a few years ago, and it was very
popular.  Once it gets on several products, we will
see if it still holds true.  We could all use a little Joy
these days!!

Polar Express

I was asked by Art teacher and former student,
Ms. Beaubouef, to scan and print some of her
students' work.  They are entering an "Endangered
Species" art show, and will not get their art back.
She wanted to know if I could do some prints for
them, so they would have a nice copy of their art.
Here are the five she gave me.  I think they all did
well...they are grades 2 through high school.  Best of
luck to them all!

This is the current edition of the Forests and People
magazine.
That is my photo up in the right hand corner!

Many of you may remember my trip down to see
the whooping crane flock at White Lake in south
Louisiana.  One of the editors of this magazine
saw some of my photos through my friend, Mr. Bob,
and called me.  She wanted to use one for the
article, and give me a photo credit.  I certainly
agreed!  And here is the page....one more thing to
add to the resume!

A Cool Day at Market Fest 2012

Today was the first annual Market Fest...a kick-off for the
Farmer's Market season.  There was an antique tractor exhibit,
including this one...An antique tractor contraption!  They were
 giving rides on this today.

This is part of our little display...some garden
things and some pretty spring bags

This little bluegrass band performed...really good

Some more of our items for sale...that cute green bug
went home with someone

Close up of the musicians...

These are the judges for the Stock Pot cook off...what
a tough job!

Some of the quilts on display

Yummy chicken stew...the winner of the poultry
division

Some of the antique tractors

All smiles around the Bake Sale...
lots of goodies (I bought several!)

We had a good time at the Market Fest today.  It
was a little cool...but it didn't rain (and that is a good
thing).  There was lots of home-made jams and
jellies, some produce, plants, bake sale items,
and some garden and outdoor gifts.  Hopefully the
market can benefit from the exposure, and it
will continue to grow.
